JRD Foundation for Business Ethics, XLRI, is proud to foster a culture of “excellence and integrity” in business. Since its foundation almost 75 years ago (1949), XLRI has striven to nurture global leaders sensitive to the needs of all, especially the marginalised and the underprivileged, following the Jesuit vision of Magis (“for the greater good”).
All around India, the heritage of J.R.D Tata is revered and honoured. The Tata family is known for more than only their exceptional commercial judgement, fortune, and achievements on a worldwide scale. It also has a lot to do with their commitment to serving the community and the country.
And out of all the chairman they’ve had, Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata is the only one who has distinguished himself for about 50 years. JRD Tata, an Indian business mogul who was born in France on July 29, 1904, revolutionised the aviation sector.
JRD Tata expanded the Tata Empire from a group of 14 companies to 50, and saw an increase in sales from INR 280 crores to INR 15,000 crores.
JRD Tata improved a number of other areas, including civil aviation. One of his most notable accomplishments was perhaps Air India. JRD Tata always advocated for those who were less fortunate and had an excellent sense of art and science. He was a prominent and well-known industrialist who, although being among the most prosperous businessmen of his era, maintained a humble demeanour.
